Having connections can pay

Enron .......................oh how easy it was for these execs to steal their workers money. It was easy because these workers refused to use their brains and diversify their portfolios and chose instead to believe in the almighty word of the high ranking executive crooks that gave them pep rally after pep rally to buy more while they dumped their own. Stating how the stock is going to go up and they will all be rich from making this choice in believing in the company.

Fast forward the fall of ENRON......The trial that convicts them.......................Ken Lay ..........Has connections BIG Political connections......................POWERFUL ones...................

I believe he paid off alot of people in order to complete his greatest cover-up .........His DEATH.............to erase his conviction..................This enables the goverment to not collect the money from his estate due to laws that cannot go after him after his death prior to him having the ability to appeal. They can go after the others involved but he has safe guarded his money by faking his death and having a PRIVATE memorial service.

I do not believe this man died I am writing this article on my fiancee's account with his permission.

What do you think??

What facts, what evidence have you seen, that leads you to believe that he did not die?

I knew it was only a matter of time.

What does it say about the current state of affairs when one of the most dependable things in life is the conspiracy theorists.

stutefish - facts are not allowed in the current paradigm.

Let's just say I haven't seen any evidence either way. If you had some evidence to back up your conclusion, I'd probably accept it over the media's conclusion. Do you have any such evidence?

TV news reports we all know they are shaded

What evidence have you seen that they are "shaded" in this case?

What evidence have you seen that they are reporting the opposite of the truth in this case?

The media is making an ordinary claim: That a man the police and hospital officials say is dead, is dead. For such an ordinary claim, I'm satisfied with the ordinary evidence: the media reports, and the police and medical reports they are based on.

You're making an extraordinary claim: that Ken Lay has faked his own death, that the police and hospital officials are either in on the conspiracy or else fooled by the conspiracy, and that the media is similarly either in on it or fooled by it.

For this extraordinary claim, you have offered no evidence, not even ordinary evidence, and certainly not the extraordinary evidence such a claim demands.

So, once again: What evidence have you seen that leads you to make this claim?

The man has enough poWer and Money and connections to pay-off people in order for this to happen. It happened @ a vacation resort in the middle of the night before he was able to appeal his case which would enable him to get the conviction erased and make it very difficult for the lawsuits to hit his estate due to a conviction being expunged. If you believe polical connections Power and money people being paid off do not happen you are living in a dream world.

Just because a person allegedly has the means to commit a crime, it doesn't mean they did commit a crime. You still have to show evidence. I'm sure that you could have murdered him; do I get to assume that you did in fact murder him, or should I show some evidence before I start with the accusations?

Oh, I believe these things happen. I just haven't seen any evidence that they happened here. I don't think you've seen any evidence either. But hey, if I'm wrong, feel free to share!

And I have another question now: If he had the motive and the opportunity, why not fake his death before the trial even began? He could have saved himself a lot more grief that way. It makes no sense for him to wait until the trial is over and he's already been convicted.

Oh! And I have yet another question! If he had the kind of power you claim, why didn't he use it to work the trial in his favor? Why allow it to come to this in the first place?

Don't get me wrong.

I like Conspiracy Theories. I think they're awsome. I actually even collect them. My favorite was Iran-Contra, on account of the conspirators finding the perfect patsy. It's really rare to see such a competent, loyal, and committed patsy as Oliver North. He totally believed in the righteousness of his cause, and was totally willing to take the fall so his dark masters could get away with their shenanigans.

I just don't think this particular theory has a lot of support. I really am curious to know if you have any evidence to support it, or if it's just another one of those "what if...?" theories made of supposition and innuendo.

Aren't those really the best kind?

Well, everybody's tastes differ. I really like learning about human achievements, because they tell us a lot about ourselves as a species: what we are capable of doing, and what we are driven to do.

If there were evidence that Ken Lay had faked his own death, and either co-opted or conned the authorities, that would be very exciting to me, because it would be an actual case of humans achieving something--something dastardly, in this case, and something for which I would demand swift justice. But it would be an achievement just the same, and a pretty impressive one, too. I'd eagerly follow the investigation, and excitedly receive each new piece of evidence detailing how he managed to pull it off.

Other people prefer a good fantasy. Wouldn't it be amazing if...? Isn't it possible that...? Such brainstorming sessions can be fun, and I've indulged in quite a few myself, but these conspiracy theories don't quite have that same compelling real-world "truthiness" as an actual conspiracy, leaking clues all over the place.

there are no laws that prevent them from going after his estate. Do some research
